A literature web portal in Ukraine with official status

Kiev-based Literature web portal called Moloda literatura (Young literature) has been officially registered. It covers Ukrainian literature, provides reviews and analysis of literary work of younger generation of writers. http://literatura.org.ua. A new Russian regional radio station launched


Komsomolskaya Pravda Yekaterinburg radio station started its broadcasting on December 22 at frequency 92.3 FM. Its head station in Moscow began broadcasting two years ago. Today radio KP is available in six big cities apart from Moscow: Krasnoyarsk, Tyumen, Vladimir, Tver, Barnaul and Yekaterinburg. The following cities Chelyabinsk, Izhevsk, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk and Stavropol are planned to be included into their broadcasting scheme shortly. Polish High Speed magazine re-launched


December 2010 saw a new issue of the monthly High Speed, magazine covering motor sports, after being on hold for several months.
The magazine has undergone through editorial and graphic design changes. The new Editor-in-Chief is Igor Kurkowski, who replaced Krzysztof Hipsz in this position. Ukrainian edition of PC Week to be re-launched in January 2011
SK Group will re-launch publishing its print edition of PC Week/Ukrainian Edition in January 2011. It is a fortnightly publication with 32 pages and 10,000 copies’ circulation. It provides information on advanced IT technologies and solutions, product development trends in the IT industry, events, domestic and global IT market news. Ukrainian political weekly ceased
Media Holding Glavred Media has put on hold publishing of its social and political weekly magazine Glavred. It has been a magazine with political and economic articles and entertainment. New web portal owner in Slovakia
Ringier Axel Springer Media AG has bought 70% shares of Slovak web portal Azet.sk. It is an online directory for businesses and companies in Slovakia, additionally providing current news. New customer publication in Poland
Polish Custom Publishing Media Agency Profil, based in North Poland in Gdansk, has launched a quarterly magazine Aster, intended for clients of a drugstore network Aster. The first issue of the magazine appeared in December 2010.
It provides news on beauty care and cosmetics, tips from beauticians and make-up artists, and covers various cosmetic products. Volume of 36 pages and circulation of 20,000 copies.

Ukrainian computer magazine ceased

ITC Publishing Company has decided to discontinue publishing its magazine Komputernoye obozreniye (Computer Review) with their December edition to be the last print issue. Its online edition KO.COM.UA will continue to appear, however.
The weekly magazine Computer Review was founded 15 years ago and has been one of the influential IT and computing publications in Ukraine. It covered IT business and events, local and international IT markets.

Russian daily ceased
Russian daily newspaper Vremya Novostei was published for the last time on December 16, after 10 years appearing on Russian market with nearly 50,000 copies’ circulation. Its former Editor-in-Chief Vladimir Gurevich,Twitter: @gur_mn, will start a new Moscow newspaper called Moskovskiye Novosti. Its launch is planned for February 1, 2011. Ukrainian new dental magazine starts

A new glossy dental magazine called 32 – zdoroviy glyanets was launched in Kiev on December 16. The magazine is planned to be distributed in all big cities of Ukraine. It’s a bi-monthly publication with a circulation of 5,000 copies and with over 100 pages volume. Its publishing director is Pavel Lemenev and Editor-in-Chief Igor Onischenko. A new Internet Director appointed
Evgeniy Borisov has been appointed a new director for Internet projects of the publishing house Provintsiya (Province). He can be reached at borisov@province.ru. He plans to create a multimedia platform for their weekly regional publications with 400,000 unique visitors daily. http://www.province.ru.
Provintsiya publishes regional newspapers in 27 Russian cities, including Nizhniy Novgorod, Rostov-na-Donu, Samara, Khabarovsk, etc. Their total circulation is around 750,000 copies weekly.

Polish media changes newsletter 7

The new Editor-in-Chief of Polish retail magazine
Krzysztof Wojciechowski will become a new editor of the monthly Zycie Handlowe, a retail magazine published by Media Direct. He will replace Dorota Warowna on this position. Krzysztof Wojciechowski was associated with Axel Springer Poland (now Ringier Axel Springer Poland). He worked as Economics Editor of The Wall Street Journal Poland for four years. Following the acquisition of title by Infor Business, he became the editor of the Polish Gazette of Legal Affairs. Then Wojciechowski returned to the Axel Springer Poland, where he was the editor of the web portal Forbes.pl.

Changes at Polish lifestyle magazine Existence
The first issue of a new Existence was published on December 10 by a new publisher Bruno Company, which acquired the title from Ginza Media Group. The lifestyle magazine has been refreshed in content and layout, and the editorial team. It covers style, arts, fashion, films and music. It is published monthly with 140 pages and the circulation of 30,000 copies. The new Editor-in-Chief Tomasz Kin can be reached at tomasz.kin@existencemag.pl.

New Deputy Editor at Gazeta Wyborcza
Jerzy B. Wojcik will replace Piotr Pacewicz as a Deputy Editor of Gazeta Wyborcza as of 1 January 2011.
Currently Wojcik covers domestic affairs and can be reached at witamywpolsce@gazeta.pl.
Wojcik has been with GW since 1993, initially working at its local editions in Zielona Gora and Gorzow. Then he became the deputy editor of the metropolitan Gazeta Stoleczna, the founder and chief editor of the Metro newspaper and the chief editor of the Nowy den, the daily newspaper published by the Agora in 2005/06.
Piotr Pacewicz has been on the position of the deputy editor of GW for the last 15 years. He can be contacted on piotr.pacewicz@agora.pl. He will remain with the newspaper but as a journalist, and will be writing at its supplement called Gazeta Swiateczna (swiateczna@agora.pl).
Gazeta Wyborcza is a daily national newspaper covering politics, economics, current general news, sports and lifestyle. Its circulation as of April 2010 was 352,782 copies.

Fashion magazine re-launched

Grazia, the Croatian edition of the Italian fashion magazine, has been re-launched in Zagreb on December 10.
It is published by Mediatop publishing house, the part of Serbian Color Press Group.
The magazine will appear monthly and will cost 9.90 HRK.

New director at Edipresse Ukraine
As of December 1, Anastasia Shlykova heads the department of women's periodicals and TV guides at Edipresse Ukraine.
Anastasia is expected to maintain and consolidate the position of Ukrainian women's magazines on the market.
Prior to that Anastasia worked as a manager for business strategy at Sanofi-Aventis Ukraine and was a manager for marketing communications at Samsung Electronics Ukraine.

Russian Shopping Guide changes
On December 1, 2010, Svetlana Lanyugova, the director of the magazine Shopping Guide of the Moscow group of glossy magazines of publishing house ABAK Press, left the publication. She was at this position since June 2009. The reason for her leaving is announced as due to family circumstances. Raisa Sanacheva will be the Acting Director of Shopping Guide in Moscow. Russian Vogue is getting popular
The readership of Moscow edition of Vogue magazine has increased up to 230,400 people, whereas St. Petersburg's edition shows figures around 71,300.
Total readership is up to around 15%, compared to March/July 2010 period.

Alexey Yablokov, Chief Editor of the culture and lifestyle magazine Smena, left his position on December 1. The replacement for him has not been announced yet.

New Editor-in-Chief at St. Petersburg’s newspaper
Olga Gnezdilova has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the local weekly newspaper Moi Rayon, St. Petersburg’s edition, after the previous Editor-in-Chief Fedor Gavrilov left the company.
The newspaper is published currently in Moscow and St. Petersburg by Schibsted publishing house.
The circulation of the St. Petersburg’s edition is around 350,000 copies weekly.

New regional business magazine launched in Siberia

A new regional business magazine Status has been launched in November 2010 in Kuzbass in Western Siberia region of Russia.
Status magazine expanded from Novosibirsk to its neighbouring city Kemerovo, and is published by Media Kit publishing house.
Its circulation is expected to be around 5,000 copies monthly. The magazine is focused on business issues, investments and successful businessmen in the region.

Axel Springer Russia publishing house has appointed Nikolay Levskiy a new Editor-in-Chief at ComputerBild magazine.
Previously Levskiy held senior editorial positions at CHIP and Digital Magazine. At ComputerBild Russia he has replaced Elena Makarova, who led the publication since May 2009.
ComputerBild Russia was launched in 2006 and is published fortnightly with the circulation of 100,000 copies.

A new culinary magazine to be launched in December 2010

New Russian regional supplement
Kak potratit, a monthly color supplement to Vedomosti newspaper, was launched on November 1, 2010 as a special regional edition for Middle Volga region. While currently it is only available for residents of Kazan city, it’s planned to be distributed in Samara and Nizhny Novgorod at a later stage.
Kak potratit is a magazine about luxury, personal finance and how and where to spend your money, and is published by the Independent Media Sanoma Magazines. New launches in Serbia
Serbian Color Press Group has published the first issue of Beauty Board in November 2010, a journal dedicated to beauty and professional care. It covers cosmetics, facial and body plastic surgery, pedicure, manicure, spa and wellness, makeup and beauty products. This magazine is also published in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, Spain and the Netherlands.

Forbes in Ukraine
Vladimir Fedorin has been appointed the Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Ukraine as of December 1, 2010. Prior to that, from February 2008 to November 2010, Vladimir Fedorin was the first deputy editor of Forbes Russia. From 2005 to 2008 he was the managing editor of Russian business weekly SmartMoney. In 2001-2005 he worked as a reporter and then as a political and economics deputy editor of the business newspaper Vedomosti. Forbes Ukraine will be published by United Media Holding in Kiev starting in March 2011. The expected circulation is around 30,000 copies. Novaya newspaper shut down in Ukraine
Ukrainian Novaya newspaper, which has been published since 2006, ceased as of November 11, due to the financial situation of the publisher. The newspaper had the circulation of 15,000 copies. The publishing house Glavred-Media has shut down its website Novaya.com.ua as well.

The first issue of a new culinary magazine published on November 12.
The Russian Burda has published the first issue of their edition of a French magazine Saveurs.
The publication is expected to appear every two months and to have the circulation of 65,000 copies.
It covers newest trends in culinary, fashionable recipes and cookery advice.

The daily newspaper Metro in Moscow and St. Petersburg has been recognized the best among editions from 19 countries, where Metro is published.
The award for the the best Metro newspaper was received by the Editor-in-chief of Metro-Russia Anna Sirota.
Annual International Conference of Metro International took place in Paris on October 27-29, 2010 and was attended by 200 people from the Metro editions, and became the present triumph for Russian Metro.

In the nomination for ‘Best Management’ Boris Konoshenko, CEO of Metro-Moscow and Gregory Matyzhev, CEO of Metro-Petersburg both received the prizes. The award for the best integrated marketing campaign went to the Marketing Director of Metro Russia Oleg Evstafiev.

Weekly Argumenty i Fakty takes over a new foreign market.
The first issue of Russian newspaper Argumenty i Fakty was released in Thailand on November 9, 2010. It’s the first official Russian newspaper, licensed by the government of the Kingdom of Thailand. The weekly is one of the most successful publications in Russia with its circulation of 3,000,000 copies.
The newspaper is distributed in more than 60 countries, including CIS and Baltic States, Western Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and Israel. It has got 66 regional editions in Russia, and 17 editions abroad.

The first issue of Kommercheski Direktor magazine to appear on December 22, 2010.
The Media Group Aktion publishes Kommercheski Direktor (The Sales Manager), a new practical magazine for managers of commercial services and sales departments. The b2b magazine will be distributed by paid subscription only and expected to have circulation of 27,500 copies.

Oksana Vinogradova, director and the editor-in-chief of a shopping and luxury goods’ magazine Ya pokupayu. Sankt Peterburg has left the publishing house Abacus Press.
Oksana Vinogradova has left her position to pursue her publishing career by establishing her own publishing house Grape Media Exclusive. Oksana Vinogradova has headed the St. Petersburg edition of the magazine for four years since its launch in 2006. A new editor has not been appointed yet.
The Grape Media Exclusive has published the second issue of the magazine Home&Décor. Its new director Oksana Vinogradova can be reached now at info@hadmag.ru. Home&Décor is published monthly with the circulation of 30,000 copies and is freely distributed in St. Petersburg.

Million magazine in Krasnoyarsk city has been shut down.

It’s been announced that the regional business analytical magazine Million covering economics, politics and finance of Krasnoyarsk region, stopped being published by Sibirski Media Soyuz. The magazine has been published for the last 11 years under the guidance of the Chief Editor Gennady Vasiliev.


New Editor at Ezh-Yurist newspaper.
Natalia Shapovalova.was appointed as a Chief editor of the legal weekly newspaper Ezh-Yurist.

New Publishers of Russian Tatler and Vogue Russia.
Condé Nast publishing house has announced the appointment of Anna Pchelkina for the position of the publisher of their magazines Tatler and AD. In this position Anna will replace Elena Zaytseva, who will start as the publisher of Vogue Russia. Anna Pchelkina commences her duties on November 1, 2010.
